about us

EZ Doc is fully funded by the GP Forward View (GPFV) how it works

EZ Doc has been adopted by over 1,000 GP surgeries with 100% funding from the GPFV fund._As part of the GPFV, a five year £45 million fund has been created to contribute towards the costs for practices of training reception and clerical staff to undertake enhanced roles in active signposting and management of clinical correspondence. The programme is providing funding via CCGs, and a typical 10,000 patient practice could receive around £7,500 towards training and backfill costs.

CCGs and Federations – what you need to know how it works

A solution that works

We are partnered with NHS England to deliver a number of the 10 High Impact Actions that form part of the GPFV. You can use your allocated GPFV funding to implement some of these high impact actions, such as EZ Doc.

The problem: Workflow or clinical correspondence management is cited in several medical journals and publications as a significant cause of burnout amongst GPs. Read more about the study commissioned by NHS England on Reducing Pressure in General Practice.

The solution: EZ Doc is an easy way to manage clinical correspondence, also known as “Workflow Optimisation”, and has been delivered to over 1,000 practices across over 30 CCGs with a combined patient population of over 3 million.

We have trained over 3,000 primary care staff members including GPs, Practice Managers and non-clinical administrative staff across England, and in doing so we’ve helped to reduce GP administration by up to 80% whilst providing a safe, efficient and standardised workflow process across the country.

Easy implementation across the CGG

EZ Doc is implemented through a simple 5 step process.

  1. Understanding Current Practice – base lining the way practices are currently performing workflow processes
  2. Protocol Localisation – utilising our highly developed protocol
  3. Training – expert training developed and delivered by GPs, delivered through practical workshops in your CCG
  4. Implementation – additional e-learning, competency assessment and useful resources to enable a sustained change process
  5. Audit – an online audit tool to assure safety and efficiency, as well as providing a dashboard to visualise performance over time

Within budget and no hidden costs

EZ Doc is a one-off cost and is priced well within your GPFV budget. We do not charge for licensing or additional users. Our pricing structure is designed to be cost effective for CCGs and helps practices to achieve quick wins as part of a wider commitment to quality improvement.

Reducing pressure in General Practice how it works

As part of the GP Forward View, NHS England is committed to reducing pressure in General Practice.

The Making Time In General Practice study was commissioned by NHS England and conducted by Primary Care Foundation with NHS Alliance to help expand and strengthen GP services and primary care across England. The report was overseen by a steering group including the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and the British Medical Association (BMA) General Practitioners Committee (GPC).

The results from the study were gathered from surveys with 250 practice managers, audits of 5,128 consultations and a series of interviews and focus groups.

The study found that one of the most burdensome areas for GPs is processing information from hospitals and other healthcare services

Processing paper based incoming information from hospitals and other healthcare services in a wide variety of different formats was reported to place a huge burden on practices. The time consuming process, slowed GPs down and took up most of their time in practice for document handling. This led to many GPs working longer hours and feeling under pressure with increasing workload.

EZ Doc can relieve pressure in General Practice by

  • Reduce GP administration by up to 80%
  • Improving efficiency, safety and standardisation of clinical correspondence management
  • Developing the team by up-skilling and enhancing the roles of non-clinical staff
  • Incentivising a resilient GP workforce, with significantly reduced admin burden
  • Achieve key high impact actions of NHS England’s GP Forward View.
  • Fully funded through NHS England GP Forward View
